The classic scribe
Kalamos (Greek) or Calamus (Latin) is the name of the writing tube made of reeds. The writing tube was used throughout antiquity until modern times. In the Middle Ages, writing was done with ink on parchment or papyrus. When worn, the natural reed could be recut.
