Bottle Tornado
Small tube – big effect.
Using simple means, the bottle tornado impressively demonstrates the interplay of water and air in a very small space.
You need two plastic bottles, one you fill to two thirds with water. Now connect the two bottles with the bottle tornado. You may have to press the lower bottle slightly to allow the air to escape upwards and make room for the flowing water. The exchange of air and water now creates an impressive whirlpool, or tornado, as you know it from your local bathtub or nature films.
By adding water color you can see the whirlpool even better!
