Roman temple
A classically beautiful temple.
The Maison Carrée (rectangular house) is one of the best preserved Roman temples of antiquity. It was built at the beginning of the 1st century AD, at the instigation of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa in Nimes (southern France). The tempal was located right in the centre of the forum and was thus the focal point of public life. The temple has been preserved because it was consecrated into a church in the early fifth century.
