The Marcellus Theatre was one of the most beautiful theatres in ancient Rome
Caesar had already acquired the site in the north of the vegetable market in the immediate vicinity of the magnificent Temple of Apollo Sosianus. Augustus had the theatre completed there in 13 BC and dedicated to his nephew Marcellus, who had died 10 years earlier.
