The 5 Platonic Solids - AstroMedia
This simple kit makes a set of Platonic Solids with a uniform edge length of 5 cm, also suitable as a mobile with the enclosed hanging brackets.
The five Platonic Solids are named after the Greek philosopher Plato, who described them in detail in his dialogue "Timaeus" around 400 BC. He saw them as the smallest, invisible building blocks of the world and assigned them to the classical elements. However, these bodies had been known for much longer; the engraved stone spheres from Scotland, for example, which are up to 5000 years old, are clear precursors.
