The colour mixer - AstroMedia
When a multi-coloured patterned disc rotates very quickly, the eye sees new and often surprising colours as a result of the mixing.
This is the principle of the well-known colour wheel invented at the Weimar Bauhaus in 1922 and also of our new mechanical colour mixer. The difference: with ours, the rotation does not end after a few seconds.
A crank with a double handle (for different speeds) and a 6:1 transmission bring the colour disc to up to 30 revolutions per second, for as long as you like. This way, not only a wide variety of colour mixtures can be tested, but with the black-and-white Benham disc, even colours can be produced where none were seen before.
The enclosed 10 discs allow a quick start to a variety of experiments of one's own, for which colour and black-and-white discs of any design can easily be made - an almost irresistible invitation to the imagination!
