The Digital Sundial - AstroMedia
AstroMedia Cardboard kit for a projection sundial: It displays solar time (true local time), standard time (CET, zone time) or daylight saving time to the nearest 5 minutes.
Simple and ingenious
The sun is the simplest and most natural time giver we know. Sundials are therefore the oldest timekeepers known to mankind. The time is read from the length or direction of the shadow. The shadow caster (gnomon) can take a variety of forms: a rod, a thread, a straight edge, a giant obelisk or simply the shape of the human being himself, who reads off the time from his own shadow.
Analogue yet digital
The digital sundial shows solar time as well as normal time (CET) and even summer time (CEST). The digits are projected onto a reading field by the sun. And so, with a little wink, one may say that this solar chronometer, the epitome of analogue time display, has arrived in the digital age. With a reading accuracy of 5 minutes, it is one of the most accurate sundials in the world. Universally adjustable to all locations between Oslo and Cairo.
