This is how the ancient Egyptians lived

This model shows in a very vivid way how the ancient Egyptians lived. The roof is removable and gives a view of the design and layout of the interior rooms. Very illustrative and instructive; well suited for teaching.

The interior of the Egyptian villa usually consisted of three groups of rooms, the reception area where visitors were received and business was conducted, the central portico and the private chambers. The portico formed the centre of the house. It served as a social room for the family. There were often windows just below the roof that let in light and made the room bright and spacious. The private chambers consisted primarily of the bedrooms.

Egyptian dwelling house
While building land was scarce in the cities of ancient Egypt and the narrow multi-storey houses offered little space, noble Egyptians could afford magnificent villas in extensive gardens. High outer walls usually protected the spacious grounds; the entrance was guarded by a watchman in a box.

The interior of the Egyptian villa usually consisted of three groups of rooms, the reception area where visitors were received and business was conducted, the central portico and the private chambers. The portico formed the centre of the house, not only in structural terms. It served as a social room for the family, where friends were also entertained. The walls of the airy hall were higher than those of the other rooms. There were often windows just below the roof that let in light and made the room bright and spacious. The private chambers consisted primarily of the family bedrooms, supplemented by tiled bathrooms and washrooms. The noble Egyptian estate was completed by accommodation for the servants, pantries, stables and an extensive garden, which often also contained the family chapel.
