"The art of making fire"

With this set you start fires like in the Stone Age.

The set contains the whisk drill and the fiddle drill.

These two ingeniously simple devices allow you to start a fire yourself and get an archaic experience of something that is so taken for granted today.

In the past, when mankind was still young, there were neither lighters nor matches. Fire was a precious thing, it was guarded and maintained by the community day and night. If it did go out, it took a bit of skill to be able to enjoy warmth and a cooking opportunity again.

The whisk drill

The simplest form of fire drilling is the use of a whisk drill. This involves placing a stick vertically on a flat piece of wood and then rotating it between the hands. The hands must also exert downward pressure so that the shaft creates enough friction in the piece of wood.

The fiddle drill

A further development is fire drilling with the help of a fiddle drill. The fiddle drill converts the translation of the hand into a rotation of the rod and thus achieves a higher rotation speed. To keep the drill in the hole, a counterpart presses on the upper end of the spindle.
