The fire iron with ignition magnesium in the set
The fire iron
With this, even the untrained can master the traditional art of creating a fire by striking sparks. A little dry tinder is all that is needed, e.g. a plucked paper handkerchief. The spark current is created only when you vigorously scrape along the metal rod with the back of a sharp-edged knife or the enclosed spark striker. It is therefore classified as non-flammable and is therefore not subject to restrictions on air transport, for example.
The ignition magnesium
The ingot consists of 99.95% pure magnesium, as used in flash bulbs in the past.
Chips can be easily scraped off with a knife; they are the ultimate fire starter, whose 3,000°C hot flame even damp material cannot resist. In ingot form, on the other hand, it is as harmless as aluminum.
The perfect complement to the fire iron.

The Ignition Magnesium
Chemical properties:
Corrosion resistance: Magnesium is susceptible to corrosion, especially in humid environments. Therefore, suitable corrosion protection is recommended for long-term use.
Reactivity: Magnesium reacts strongly with water, acids and can ignite spontaneously at high temperatures.
Flammability: Magnesium is highly flammable and can burn quickly at temperatures above 600 °C, especially in the form of fine chips or dust.
Safety and storage instructions:
Handling: Handle with care to avoid sparks or contact with water and acids.
Storage: Store in a dry, cool place, away from moisture and heat sources.
Safety precautions: Wear protective goggles and gloves when machining (e.g. sawing or filing). Avoid contact with moisture as the material is flammable.
