The First Goetheanum

It allows a view of the overall concept, which is unparalleled.
The first Goetheanum, foundation stone laid in 1913, burned to the ground even before its opening on New Year's Eve 1920. This huge wooden building with its two domes was richly carved and painted on the inside. With this building Rudolf Steiner developed the organic style of architecture, i.e. a style in which - similar to a plant - every part, every form, every colour is in inner connection with the whole and the whole is structured into the individual through metamorphoses.
