The Living Sundial

A ground sundial measuring approx. 5 x 7 m, calculated individually for your location, which is applied with paint to a suitable place, e.g. a schoolyard.

And that is the “living” thing about this sundial:

There is no shadow staff! The observer places himself in the middle on a date line and can then read the time (MEZ) on his own shadow to an accuracy of approx. 3 minutes.

The kit contains the specially calculated measurements and sketches for the hourly and half-hourly points and the date bar, detailed instructions for measuring and painting and some sample photos.

Especially for schools a very interesting project!
