...could also be called the afterglowing moon

This detailed depiction of the moon's surface was printed on a special self-adhesive film that lights up in sunlight or artificial light and then continues to glow for many hours. Even at the end of the night, the moon still stands out with a soft shimmer in the dark. This not only has a pleasantly calming effect, it can even be an important orientation aid in the dark. For this reason, safety markings and signs made of this material can also be found in important places in many public and commercial buildings.

 A small light store
To charge the film, it needs to be exposed to the strongest possible light for a few minutes. The afterglow effect then occurs immediately. However, as it is naturally much weaker than the light source or the ambient light, our eyes only perceive it in the dark. As soon as our eyes have become accustomed to this, the glow effect becomes more and more visible.

Scientifically, this light-storing effect is called phosphorescence. It was first discovered in 1602 by Vincentio Casciorolo on the so-called Bolognese luminescent stone and a few decades later also on the chemical element phosphorus, which gave it its name. Numerous substances are now known that can glow in this way. The phosphorescent pigments are embedded in our film in an airtight and waterproof manner. The glow-in-the-dark moon is therefore non-toxic and suitable for children's rooms.
