The Plumber’s Telescope - AstroMedia
Kit for an astronomical refracting telescope with 30x magnification, using inexpensive installation tubes from the DIY store.
The name says it all
In addition to first-class colour-corrected lenses, detailed building instructions and further accessories, you will receive a shopping list for your DIY store. You need a HT tube with a push-fit socket, a HT sleeve and a HT socket plug as well as a little skill and the homemade telescope from the DIY store is ready.
Tracking the sky with Kepler optics
The do-it-yourself telescope is a high-quality beginner's telescope, because for pocket money everyone gets the opportunity to explore the starry sky themselves like Galileo Galilei: Moon craters, Jupiter's moons and much more. As with all astronomical telescopes with Kepler optics, the image is upside down, but this is not a problem when observing the sky. For terrestrial observations, the image can be straightened with the zenith mirror - see product attachments. Any stray light can be avoided by using the inner diaphragm.
You can find an illustrated construction report here.
Tip
If you want to perfect your DIY telescope and are technically inclined, you can build an eyepiece focuser yourself with this tip from the community of the magazine "Make". You can find the instructions here.
The DIY telescope has also inspired Uwe Reichert from the magazine "Sterne und Weltraum". You can read the full article here.
