The sextant with artificial horizon - AstroMedia
Pre-cut, very sturdy AstroMedia cardboard kit for a fully functional sextant as an introduction to astro-navigation with artificial horizon.
The Sextant
Very sturdy, pre-cut cardboard kit with two unbreakable stainless steel brilliant mirrors and a switchable solar filter. Our sextant is a fully functional, field-tested instrument with a display accuracy of between 5 and 10 minutes of arc.The Artificial Horizon
At sea, the natural horizon is used to align the sextant horizontally. For surveying on land, AstroDidaktik has created a clever substitute. With the help of a third mirror, a spirit level and the punched cardboard components, the height can be measured independently of the natural horizon. Also available separately
