The Solar Airship - AstroMedia
Zeppelin-shaped giant balloon made of thin black foil that rises into the air using solar energy.
How it works
The black foil heats up in the sunlight and transfers its heat to the air inside. The air expands due to the heat and becomes lighter than the cooler air outside the solar airship. This causes it to rise, carrying its foil shell with it. It is the same principle as a hot air balloon. Therefore: Be careful not to let go!
Works best in cool outside air and sunshine – i.e. on a sunny winter's day or a cool summer's morning.
Good to know
The solar airship is not a toy. Children under the age of 14 may only use it under adult supervision. There is a risk of suffocation from the foil material and injury from long strings. Do not fly near high-voltage power lines, airports or during thunderstorms! A maximum altitude of 100 m must not be exceeded. Before use, read the complete safety instructions on the enclosed leaflet or here under Product Safety.

Before use, observe the following safety instructions:
Adult supervision:
The solar airship is not a toy. Children under 14 years of age may only use it under adult supervision to avoid risks from improper handling.
Child safety:
Due to the thin film (risk of suffocation) and the long cord (risk of strangulation), the airship must not be stored or used within the reach of small children.
Health protection:
Keep away from the cord when it is under tension to avoid cord burns or injuries.
Pay attention to weather conditions:
Only take off in calm and dry weather. Never take off in storms or when there is a risk of thunderstorms.
Safe distance from obstacles:
Only use in large, open areas to avoid collisions with trees, buildings or other obstacles. Always keep your distance from power lines, electrified railway lines, electrical signs and television and radio antennas.
Avoid restricted areas:
Flights near airports, military installations, densely populated areas and nature and bird sanctuaries are not permitted without special permission. If necessary, obtain appropriate information from the local municipality or the relevant authorities.
Observe the maximum flight altitude:
The climbing height of 100 meters must not be exceeded.
Careful assembly:
After assembly, check that all connections are secure and that the material is not damaged.
Keep control:
Never leave the assembled solar airship unattended and always hold the cord firmly and securely to prevent uncontrolled drifting.
Intended use:
The set may only be used in accordance with the enclosed instructions. Independent modifications can affect functionality and safety.
