The steam engine and the Ferris wheel in a set - AsdtroMedia
The Steam Engine
A steam engine as a cardboard kit, powered by really boiling steam. This model is not only splendid to look at, it also works splendidly. The boiler made of corrosion-resistant aluminium has a magnetic pressure relief valve, the fire from 5 tea lights is shielded by a galvanised wire grid and the steam is conducted through a closed hose and foil system and released into the open air via a chimney.
The Ferris Wheel
In order for the Ferris wheel to be kept in motion by the power of the steam engine, it is designed to be particularly smooth-running and has a high reduction ratio of 15:1, i.e. the impeller that turns the Ferris wheel has a diameter 15 times larger than the driving wheel that is attached to the crankshaft of the steam engine.
