Virgo is the second largest constellation in the sky. It lies between Leo and Libra. The brightest stars are said to represent a reclining person. The brightest star is Spica, with an apparent magnitude of 0.98.
The ecliptic passes through Virgo, so the sun, moon, and planets move through this constellation. At the time when the constellations were named in ancient times, the sun was in the constellation Virgo from mid-August to the end of September, which at that time was almost identical to the zodiac sign Virgo. However, due to the precessional motion of the Earth's axis, the time of the sun's transit has shifted compared to ancient times. Therefore, the sun is currently in the constellation Virgo from September 16th to October 31st.
