Nephtys
Nephtys is a goddess of birth and death in Egyptian mythology, who also represents the goddess Nut in her appearance. In the pyramid texts she was considered the "Goddess of the South".

Nephthys is depicted as a standing woman. Like her twin sister Isis, she also wears the hieroglyphs of her name on her head: the signs for Lord(in) and House. On coffins she appears in human form with outstretched wings, but in the Osiris myth she appears as a bird of prey. Some depictions show the deity suckling the king.

In the Nine of Heliopolis she is the daughter of Nut and Geb and sister of Osiris, Seth and Isis. However, she was also the wife of Seth, although no children resulted from this union. According to the Osiris myth, she wished to have a child by Osiris and he fathered the child Anubis with her.

Nephtys, like her sister Isis, was considered a goddess of the dead. She helped Isis find the dismembered body of Osiris and embalm it. Both mourned over the dead in the form of kites. She accompanied the dead into the afterlife and mourned them.

Nephtys is also considered the goddess of magic and divination. Together with Isis, Neith and Selket, she is one of the four tutelary goddesses of the sons of Horus and canopic protector. She protects the canopic of Hapi, in which the lungs of the deceased are kept.
