The high line density of this grating produces a particularly broad light spectrum. The resulting image is similar to that produced by a prism, except that in the case of a prism we speak of refraction, whereas with a grating we speak of diffraction. Each type of light produces its own characteristic spectrum when viewed or projected through the film with the grating. This allows important conclusions to be drawn about the nature of the light source. Our handheld spectroscope also makes use of this principle.With four slide frames to cut out, this kit is ideal for your own experiments or for teaching.
The film is also available without the slide frames in a larger sheet format, 15 x 30 cm.
