Egyptian court of the dead
Led by the jackal-headed god Anubis, Hunefer enters the Hall of Maat, where the fate of his soul is decided. Here his heart is weighed against the pen of order, justice and truth. Anubis checks the scales while the "devourer" looks on, Thot records the result. Then the falcon-headed god Horus leads Hunefer to the shrine where Osiris sits on the throne. The hieroglyphs announce Osiris' happy verdict: "Eternal life".
